Defendory International-2008

The XV International Exhibition of Defence Systems for Land Forces, Navy and Air Force “Defendory International-2008” was held from October 7 to October 11 2008 at a new exhibition complex in Athens suburbs. Initially it had been established under patronage of the Hellenic Ministry of Defence and Directorate General (Armament) as a bridge connecting Europe Middle East, the event is conducted biennially.

During the “Defendory International-2008” in Athens 25 Russian companies exhibited their advanced military products that are soon likely to be in demand in various regions of the world. Before that the exhibition was held in the centre of Athens – Perhea Port, but this year the location was in a new pavilion of Hellenicon exhibition centre able to accommodate all the participants among which were more than 500 companies from 40 countries.

“Defendory International-2008” tri-forces defence systems exhibition is of great importance for KBP Instrument Design Bureau. It was during this exhibition in late 1990-s that KBP signed its first contracts with Greek MoD. Besides that KBP repeatedly demonstrated its newly developed products at Defendory.

In 2008 KBP Instrument Design Bureau was presented by an extensive display of 24 exhibits. The KBP delegation was headed by Director general Alexander L. Rybas, being also a member of the Russian Government delegation.

At the exhibition the KBP display was located within the all-russian exposition, which also included the products by FSUE “Rosoboronexport:, “Almaz-Antey” concern, FSUE “SPLAV”, JSC “Degtyarev plant”, etc.

The KBP display was as usually manifold, rich in exhibits and represented all the spheres of the company’s activity from small arms and grenade launchers to air-defence gun/missile systems such as "Kashtan-M", "Pantsir-S1". The most advanced weapons developed by KBP were presented as models, mock-ups as well as on posters and placards.

The KBP exposition attracted a great number of foreign official delegations and representatives al all services of armed forces, as well as Russian and foreign mass media representatives.

KBP booth was visited by official delegations of Greek Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Public security, Land Forces and Special Forces.

A number of presentations and talks with a number of companies were held concerning deliveries of our products and procurement of various units and components of our systems.

The advertising booth of KBP, mock-ups and models, posters, as well as the overall design of the company exposition received favourable reports of the Russian Federation official delegation and foreign companies’ representatives
